My Space Marine Army Built So Far

Since I am currently attempting to figure out what models for 40k I have built, and what kinds of units those make up, I have made up Excel sheets for each of my armies.  These sheets are same as below list except with added point values.  Now it is simple to make army list because I have all units and base costs with some additional equipment added.  This makes list writing simple and quick, with only making small changes in unit sizes if my points run over.  I have needed to do this for a while because I always forget exactly what special weapons I have or what sergeants are equipped with.  Below is my built Space Marines.  I usually play as a Pedro based army or Khan army with outflanking transports and podding dreads.  The latter being my favorite build at the moment.  The below list comes to a little over 13,000 points when equipped as written.  A lot of these points are tied up in HQ models I have, so kind of misleading.  I have a few additions listed at the bottom that I will be adding soon to finish up.  Besides adding more Rhinos, transports, Drop Pods for particular builds I will stop adding to this.

In the future I am going to try to get all of my armies listed so I will have the list handy for me whenever I need it really and can access the internet.  I will also attempt to get them all laid out and get some group shots of each army with some close-ups of some of the models I spent extra time converting, etc.  So with two down, I just need to add IG, WitchHunters, Daemonhunters, and Kroot Mercenaries.

My Chaos Space Marine Army Built So Far - Too Much?

I am currently attempting to compile spreadsheets for each of my armies. Each spreadsheet will show all models I have for army in the unit setups I built them for. My "Unit OCD" won't allow me to move models from one unit to the next, I only take away models for points allowance. It took me a couple hours this weekend to go through all my 40k figures and do a quick inventory. Now that I have this I am now compiling it into the sheets. The first army I started with was my Chaos Space Marines. I was a little surprised when the point totals came in around 8300 points. I wish I could get more of them painted, but have now decided on the fact that I should just wait until my daughter is old enough to help, haha. She is gonna be 2 years old soon and is really interested in my models now. Nap time is pretty much the only time I can get away with doing any work on them really. Ok, so on with the list. Below is everything I have built with a small list of planned additions when funding is available.

Soon, I will add posts for my Space Marines, Imperial Guard, Witch Hunters, Daemon Hunters, and Kroot. I will eventually put up some pics of these armies when I get a chance to set them all up.  And if the above looks bad, spaced out, apparently I suck at copy and paste.

New Blood Angels = Chaos?

If like me, you have been seeing the new Blood Angels rumors making their rounds in the blogosphere. I have had no interest really in them, having hated BA since their 3rd edition rhino rushing overpowered days. Saying this, I think now I may start liking them. Not that I'm gonna play Blood Angels, but will probably use this codex for some of my Chaos models, namely Night Lords.

While not usually an advocate of "counts as" armies, I feel like this one could just fit the bill of what I'm looking for. I started a Night Lords army before the Chaos codex was neutered and lost all the Legion-specific rules. I loved the fluff of an army with lots of assault troops that overwhelmed the enemy with decisive strike attacks. According to the rumors the new BA will be just this, fast and assault oriented. I think this codex could be a good holdover codex for some Chaos players wanting to play this style but really not having the options in the current codex. Even Khorne Berzerkers could fit into this theme. Obliterators would be out, but who cares when you could get drop-podding dual CCW dreads. The more I think about this idea the more I get excited about the possibilities of having a Chaos army that actually has some options. So do you guys think the new Blood Angel codex could be a good option to keep Chaos players competitive and enjoying a new realm of tactical possibilities or do you think everyone should just use a codex for its intended purposes.

I know lately I have been letting the blog down, but the computer I had all my upcoming post pics on crashed and I lost several posts that I had planned. After this I was disgusted for a while and let it go. Hopefully, soon I'll get some more pics taken and start more regular updates. In the meantime, I have built up an 1850 pt, mostly infantry, Sisters of Battle army that includes 88 SOB, 1 Rhino and 2 Immolators. I will post a list soon. And this weekend I'm pretty excited about getting to play some games with a couple guys I haven't played in years.

Project Crimson Fists: A few things built recently

Below are a few things I built recently for my ever-growing Crimson Fists army. I built a couple Landspeeder Storms with multi-meltas, because outflanking/deepstriking multi-meltas are cool. These Storms are great models, very dynamic and pretty easy to build, even with all the parts. I also built a unit of 5 Scout Bikers. One of these has a plasma pistol and a couple Astartes Grenade Launchers are included for some outflanking rear shots on transports. Three of these I had the old metal models laying around so I bought a couple of the new versions and mixed and matched the bits to customize them a little. I also included a couple pictures of droppods that I built just so I could have 3. This will allow some options with army lists so I can have 2 pods drop at beginning of game. I really like this in some situations.

I recently finished building 2 Landraider Crusaders that are magnetized and can be changed into Redeemers in seconds. In hindsight I should have looked around online and found someone's tutorial on this, but it went kinda smoothly. I will post pics of this on my next post with what little instruction I can offer.

Selling Some of My Rare/OOP Models - Link

I decided to throw up the ebay link to the models I posted last week. I finally got around to listing them. http://shop.ebay.com/ctreleheb/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p4340

Next post I promise to show some actual hobby stuff.

Selling Some of My Rare/OOP Models

The time has come to sell some more models that I like, but don't have time for. My want for newer models and my current army building has lead me to dig out some of the below models to sacrifice. Check out what I have below, all will be hitting the ebay in a couple days. I will post a link when they are put up. I have been procrastinating on this for a while because I hate the ebay and all the hassle with selling so many different items. Oh, and the constant percentages of money they take with fees. But oh well, it is a necessary evil if I want new bits. However, if anyone wants this lot or some of these before I put them on shoot me an email. ctreleheb@gmail.com

Usually, I wouldn't stoop to trying to offload these models on the blog, but I really need some new m0dels, and I do get tired of Ebay.

FTW Collaborative: Must-Have Unit

I thought this would be a good time to start participating in the FTW Collaborative posts. My must-have unit has to be Plague Marines when playing Chaos. Not only is the fluff and models great, the rules aren't half bad either. My love for Plague Marines started back in 3rd edition with the codex having Nurgle-specific rules(I miss the Legion specific rules). Now, when playing Chaos I always try to squeeze in two units of 7 Plague Marines riding in a rhino. Usually, one of the units has 2 meltas, a champion with powerfist and Icon for deepstrikers or daemons. The other unit is usually the same with the exception of having 2 plasmas. I find these units work great for many roles. They can sit on nearby objectives, race to further away objectives, and doubleteam with other units from the army(like Khorne Berzerkers) to make a formidable one-two punch. Plague marines being T5, Fearless and Feel no Pain makes them very hard to remove from cover unless your opponent dedicates a sizable portion of his army to remove them with lots of shooting or a very good assault unit(Blight Grenades help against these).

Below are some pictures of the DeathGuard army I have been cataloging on this blog. I have recently been working on other projects instead of painting this army. I want to get back to the painting, but now I'm living with my mother-in-law(so not as much space as really needed for my painting) and my 19 month-old daughter loves my models, so very difficult to paint while she is sitting on my lap playing in my brush water.

I hope to get in on some more of these collaborative posts in the future. This was fun just talking about I unit I do love to see hit the tables. Soon I hope to be posting some things I am building for my ever-growing Space Marine army.
