Project Crimson Fists: A few things built recently

Below are a few things I built recently for my ever-growing Crimson Fists army. I built a couple Landspeeder Storms with multi-meltas, because outflanking/deepstriking multi-meltas are cool. These Storms are great models, very dynamic and pretty easy to build, even with all the parts. I also built a unit of 5 Scout Bikers. One of these has a plasma pistol and a couple Astartes Grenade Launchers are included for some outflanking rear shots on transports. Three of these I had the old metal models laying around so I bought a couple of the new versions and mixed and matched the bits to customize them a little. I also included a couple pictures of droppods that I built just so I could have 3. This will allow some options with army lists so I can have 2 pods drop at beginning of game. I really like this in some situations.

I recently finished building 2 Landraider Crusaders that are magnetized and can be changed into Redeemers in seconds. In hindsight I should have looked around online and found someone's tutorial on this, but it went kinda smoothly. I will post pics of this on my next post with what little instruction I can offer.

Selling Some of My Rare/OOP Models - Link

I decided to throw up the ebay link to the models I posted last week. I finally got around to listing them. http://shop.ebay.com/ctreleheb/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p4340

Next post I promise to show some actual hobby stuff.

Selling Some of My Rare/OOP Models

The time has come to sell some more models that I like, but don't have time for. My want for newer models and my current army building has lead me to dig out some of the below models to sacrifice. Check out what I have below, all will be hitting the ebay in a couple days. I will post a link when they are put up. I have been procrastinating on this for a while because I hate the ebay and all the hassle with selling so many different items. Oh, and the constant percentages of money they take with fees. But oh well, it is a necessary evil if I want new bits. However, if anyone wants this lot or some of these before I put them on shoot me an email. ctreleheb@gmail.com

Usually, I wouldn't stoop to trying to offload these models on the blog, but I really need some new m0dels, and I do get tired of Ebay.

FTW Collaborative: Must-Have Unit

I thought this would be a good time to start participating in the FTW Collaborative posts. My must-have unit has to be Plague Marines when playing Chaos. Not only is the fluff and models great, the rules aren't half bad either. My love for Plague Marines started back in 3rd edition with the codex having Nurgle-specific rules(I miss the Legion specific rules). Now, when playing Chaos I always try to squeeze in two units of 7 Plague Marines riding in a rhino. Usually, one of the units has 2 meltas, a champion with powerfist and Icon for deepstrikers or daemons. The other unit is usually the same with the exception of having 2 plasmas. I find these units work great for many roles. They can sit on nearby objectives, race to further away objectives, and doubleteam with other units from the army(like Khorne Berzerkers) to make a formidable one-two punch. Plague marines being T5, Fearless and Feel no Pain makes them very hard to remove from cover unless your opponent dedicates a sizable portion of his army to remove them with lots of shooting or a very good assault unit(Blight Grenades help against these).

Below are some pictures of the DeathGuard army I have been cataloging on this blog. I have recently been working on other projects instead of painting this army. I want to get back to the painting, but now I'm living with my mother-in-law(so not as much space as really needed for my painting) and my 19 month-old daughter loves my models, so very difficult to paint while she is sitting on my lap playing in my brush water.

I hope to get in on some more of these collaborative posts in the future. This was fun just talking about I unit I do love to see hit the tables. Soon I hope to be posting some things I am building for my ever-growing Space Marine army.

Planetstrike Counters

Below are the remaining counters I built along with the others already posted. These can be used for Planetstrike or anything else for custom scenarios. Below are the counters for a missile silo, locator beacon and escape hatch.
The counters below can be used as the Force Pylons Stratagems, even though its not a very good one to use. These I had laying around from the Battle for Macragge Starter Box.

Lately the blogging has been slow, but seeing everyone else's blog having some great content recently has gotten me thinking about new things I could do for this one besides just posting the random things I build and never paint. I'm brainstorming on a hobby article series, and maybe a series on my thoughts on 40k and how it's played, even if nobody cares what I think.

Chaos/Traitor Objective Markers

Below are six objective markers that I built along with the Imperial ones posted a little while back. Again the pics are superbright(don't know how to stop this), but as you can see they are just a 40mm base with plenty of bitz from several of my boxes. I think I used bitz from CSM, SM, IG, Beastmen, Vampire Counts, Warriors of Chaos, and the old terrain sprue. These projects were a welcome break from building rhinos, space marines and such.

Lately, I have been doing very little on the hobby side due to family and other hobby obligations. Hope to get some gaming in this weekend. Reklawsj is coming down from college so hopefully some new Space Hulk games(neither of us have played this yet) and maybe some 40k.

Scenario Counters/Objectives - My Imperial Versions

Below are a few counters I have been wanting to build for a while. Having a ton of bits laying around made this easy enough, I was only gonna build ten but a few hours later had finished 19 of them. Below are the pics of the six I made for Imperial armies. I changed some things with my photo box and now it seems the pics are too bright, though I'm still only using 1 lamp. Oh well, I'll get around to more testing eventually.

Above are 3 of the counters, a fuel/supply dump, a dead space marine waiting to be retrieved, and a beacon/supply dump.
Above are 3 others including an ammo dump, an imperial flag with servo skull and a meltabomb/ammo dump.

I'm pretty happy with how most of these came out even if some are a little busy. Next time I'll post some pics of the Chaos versions and some I built that are scenario specific or for Planetstrike.

Chaos Space Marine Squad - Red Corsairs

Below are some pics of the CSM Squad that I finally finished over the weekend. I decided to make a 20 man squad with 2 plasmaguns, and a champion with combi-plasma and powerfist. Sometimes I will use these with different marks and have all enhanced walking with Fabius Bile. While probably not supereffective, will be fun having 20 CSM guarding my home objective. These are built as a Red Corsairs squad, notice all are different with mixes of loyal and chaos bits. All will be painted to different chapters with only Red Corsair mark on shoulderpad. At the bottom of the page is an icon bearer I had laying around so I built him to throw in the unit sometimes. What I want to add is a lascannon-toting, ex-Iron Warrior model, but alas I have none laying around and haven't figured out what to ebay next to supply the funds to purchase one.

Also, over the weekend I built counters for Chaos and Imperial and a few for Planetstrike that I will be posting soon. I'm currently building a unit of Scout Bikers for the Crimson Fists, with 2 Landspeeder Storms in line after that.

Forgeworld Nurgle Sorcerer and Dreadnought

Below are some pics of the Forgeworld Nurgle Dread and Nurgle Sorcerer I built recently. These are a couple of my favorite models ever made by Forgeworld. They are so detailed, a lot more so in person that in any pics. I say these models are a must for any Nurgle Chaos army. The Dread I built so the banner is removable, also the arms and torso are all pinned so he can pivot at all joints of movement. I have another of the Nurgle Sorcerers laying around that will eventually be converted with powerfist as a squad champion. Eventually I will probably succomb to buying some of the Plague Marine torso conversion sets and making a small unit of Nurgle Bikers(T6 is sweet).

Still haven't finished the 20 man Chaos Marine Squad, lacking motivation at the moment, gotta get it back by this weekend.

Chaos Space Marine Character Buildathon

Sticking with the current chaos army building, here are a few pics of some of the characters I have built for the army. All are just built as GW intended except for the Nightlords character at the bottom of the page. He is converted using some plastics and the Nightlords hero body as the basis. I only have a couple more characters I want to build for this army including a Nightlords Chaos Sorcerer and Ahriman. Below are pics of Huron Blackheart, Lucius the Eternal, random Chaos Lord guy, Fabius Bile, Slaaneshi Lord on Steed from fantasy range I had lying around and the Nightlords Chaos Lord. I am currently expanding my Chaos Legion into the 8,000 pt range with more Deathguard, a Fabius Bile enhanced Chaos Space Marine Squad, then to finish up with a planned Nurgle Plague Tower on a BaneBlade chassis.

Next up I have some pics of a FW Nurgle Sorcerer and FW Nurgle Dreadnought. Since I haven't touched a model in almost two weeks I think it's about time to get back on it and finish up some things.

The Thousand Sons have a new Boss

I have had this model for a couple months now and I've been using him to lead my Thousand Sons army. But he was just missing something... Wings! I just love the idea of a monstrous creature flying around the board (especially when he has bolt of change) and ripping open anything in his path. I have seen many daemon princes with wyvern wings or dragon wings but I wanted this little guy to have a real Tzeentchy feel to him. So I used some griffon wings and greenstuffed them on. This is my first real attempt at using green stuff and I'm happy with the result. Now I can't wait to let hiim loose on someone.

Khorne Lord with Bloodfeeder Conversion

Below is a pic of the Khorne Lord I converted to have a Bloodfeeder Daemon Weapon. I used Khorne Berzerker plastic legs with a Forgeworld torso conversion set I had leftover from squad. The Bloodfeeder is actually an inquisitor scale chainsword I had a bag full of laying around that I had forgotten about. The hands holding a sword were the hardest part of this conversion and still aren't as straight as I wanted but not really noticeable. I like the Bloodfeeder chance at lots of attacks, even if he'll probably roll a 1 everytime. When I do use this guy he's gonna ride in the landraider the Kharn and 8 berzerkers.

Below is a pic of Kharn the Betrayer that I built from a terribly painted and built model I got for a few bucks on ebay. Had to sit in Simple Green for a week to get stripped and couldn't even salvage the right arm, so had to use plastic replacement. He'll ride with the Berzerker squad in the Landraider.

Next time I'll post pics of the 5 characters I built last week. Haven't even touched a model since saturday. Been busy with real life. I do have a 20 man Chaos Marine Squad on foot in progress and hope to finish this weekend.

Chosen Squad Rhino Conversion with Pics

Below are some pics of the Rhino I built for the Chosen Squad I posted earlier. I added a combi-flamer to it and some skull plates like the landraider. I added the banner as a symbol that this is Huron's ride. The banner is just pinned so it is easily removable. I took these pics in the photobox with the same setup as previously posted, but had to quickfix the lighting in photoshop. Soon I hope to experiment with different/more lighting and maybe play with some white balance settings as I see others speak of. I will eventually post my efforts in comparison, which could become my first informative post.

Lately I have been in a chaos character building mood and have built many in the past week. None are painted, but I will post pics soon nonetheless.
